Spencer Sohmer, Zoe Wong Named NSCA All-Americans

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and EAS Sports Nutrition announced that Haverford College baseball player Spencer Sohmer and volleyball player Zoe Wong have been named 2018 All-American Athletes. This marks the third straight season that Haverford student-athletes have been recognized with this honor.

The award recognizes the students' athletic accomplishments and their dedication to strength and conditioning. The athletes were nominated by Haverford College's Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Cory Walts.

A two-time All-Centennial Conference selection during his Haverford career, Sohmer was a mainstay at third base during his career. Starting 137 of his 144 career games played, including every contest during his final three seasons, Sohmer graduates third in school history in both RBI (114) and total bases (256). His double, triple, games played, and games started total also rank among the program's top five players, while his 15 career home runs are the seventh most in school history.

"Spencer has transformed his body, and in turn, his performance, during his four years at Haverford," said Walts. "While doing so, he has earned the respect of teammates, coaches, and opponents alike. The senior all-conference captain is a big reason why our baseball team has been so successful in the weight room and on the field."

Zoe Wong finished her career as a two-time first-team All-Centennial Conference selection. She was named five different all-tournament teams throughout her collegiate career. Playing in a total of 442 sets during the course of 119 matches, Wong ranks fourth in program history with 3,010 assists. She also totaled 136 service aces during her Haverford career and ranks just outside of the top 10 with her .887 career service percentage.

"Zoe is one of the most well-rounded student-athletes I've had the pleasure of working with at Haverford," explained Walts. "Regardless of how many directions she's being pulled in, Zoe has shown an insatiable zeal for training with a purpose that has overhauled her team's training culture"
