Learfield Directors' Cup release
HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College Athletic Department is ranked 32nd across all of Division III in the final fall release of the 2018-19 Learfield Directors' Cup standings. With winter and spring sports yet to come, the Fords have already accumulated 136 points. Haverford ranks second in the Centennial Conference among the six other schools that have also been represented at an NCAA Championship event during the fall season.
Haverford's best-ever finish in the Learfield Directors' Cup standings was a 35th place finish during the 2013-14 academic year. The Fords have finished as a top 50 team in the country at the conclusion of the spring season on four occasions. Those 136 points scored during the fall is tied for the sixth-best mark in school history.
The final release of the fall now takes into account Haverford's NCAA Tournament appearance for men's soccer. The Fords earned 25 points and were credited with a 33rd place finish after falling in penalty kicks during the first round of the NCAA Tournament to New York University. The men's soccer team won its third Centennial Conference Championship in four seasons to claim the conference's automatic bid during an 11 match winning streak. The bid was the program's seventh appearance all-time at the NCAA Championship Tournament.
Men's cross country was the big scorer for the Fords this fall as the team's fourth-place finish garnered 80 total points. Haverford made its seventh trip to the podium as a cross country team this fall behind All-American performances from Graham Peet, Ryan Herlihy, and Greg Morgan. With a nice team trophy to show for its efforts, the Fords' finish was the program's highest since a runner-up showing in 2012 that capped a span of three straight trips to the podium. The men's cross country team has now made 26 straight appearances at the NCAA Championships.
Women's cross country was also credited with a 33rd place finish and 31 more points as Hannah Doll qualified as an individual to the cross country national championship. Doll ran to a 141st place finish at the national championship, an 81 spot improvement from her debut on the national stage in 2017. Halfway through her cross country career, Doll is on pace to become just the fifth runner in women's cross country history to compete in four NCAA Championships.
