Haverford, Pa. – The Haverford College men and women’s fencing teams have announced their 2014-15 schedules.

Both teams begin the 2014-15 campaign on the road with the Temple Open (Nov. 1-2) and the Vassar Invitational (Nov. 9-10).

The Fords follow with two home dates, starting with the Haverford Invitational on Nov. 15 and the Tri-Co Invitational on Dec. 6 at the Alumni Field House. 

After the winter break, Haverford heads to Happy Valley to participate in the Penn State Invitational (Jan. 11) before hosting the Alumni/ae Banquet on Jan. 17. The season continues with the Philadelphia Invitational (Jan. 24-25) at the University of Pennsylvania and the Sollee Invitational hosted by MIT (Feb. 1).

After the Sollee Invite, the women’s fencing team will take part in the Eastern Women’s Fencing Conference (EWFC) Team Championships (Feb. 8) and individual championships (Feb. 15).  The women’s schedule continues with the National Intercollegiate Women’s Fencing Association (NIWFA) Championships (Feb. 28).

The men’s team will take part in the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association (MACFA) Invitational (Feb. 8-15) before wrapping up the regular season with the MACFA Championships (Mar. 1). The NCAA fencing regional championships take place on March 7.

Head Coach Chris Spencer is entering his eighth season leading both the men’s and women’s fencing programs at Haverford. The women’s squad enters the 2014-15 season as the reigning Division III Champions at the NIWFA Championships, while the men placed third a season ago at the MACFA Championships.
