HAVERFORD, Pa. – It's Top 10 Tuesday! Every Tuesday from now through the end of August, we will take a look back at the Top 10 moments from the 2013-14 academic year. This list was compiled as a way to highlight one of the most successful athletic campaigns in the history of Haverford Athletics, both on the playing field and in the classroom.

Although there were many memorable moments throughout the 2013-14 seasons, we only have 10 summer Tuesdays. For a full list of all the highlights from this past year, be sure to check out the complete list of varsity highlights here. The Tuesday Top 10 will be revealed in chronological order.

Haverford Athletics was a huge winner on Sunday, May 4 as both the baseball and softball programs captured Centennial Conference Championships on the very same day. For softball, the conference title was the second in program history and first since the 2006 season. The baseball title was also the second in program history. The first came during the 2012 campaign.

Softball had blazed through the first two days of its conference tournament, setting the Fords up for two chances at the Centennial Conference Championship and NCAA bid. However, they would need just the one game as they overcame top-seeded Muhlenberg for the second time in as many days, 6-2. Leading 2-1 heading to the seventh, Haverford got plenty of insurance with Jill Schnall and Lauren Touey each driving in a one-out RBI to widen the margin. Dayle Comerfield knocked in two more runs to cap a four-run seventh inning. Sara Tauriello went 6.2 innings in the victory before giving way to Emily Winesett in the victory.

Baseball found itself on the opposite end of the spectrum as the Fords needed a pair of wins that Saturday to stay alive after an opening round loss. The Fords would get those two wins to move into the championship game for the sixth time in the last nine years. In the opening game Sunday, Max Gerard would get all the run support he needed with two runs in the second inning. The Fords added another run in the seventh which was more than enough for Gerard in the opening game behind his six-hit shutout. With the winner-take-all game upcoming, Haverford scored in the bottom of the first with Gettysburg answering back in the third. Both teams would then be held scoreless in their next nine innings at the plate. Finally, an error, intentional walk and single loaded the bases with one out for Haverford in the bottom of the 12th. That set the stage for Justin Coulter to play the role of hero with his walk-off single to give the Fords the conference championship. Starter pitching Kyle Waney allowed just one run on the afternoon before giving way to Tommy Bergjans. Bergjans allowed just one hit over his six innings of work to eventually earn the win in the championship game.

With both squads locking up bids to their respective NCAA Tournaments, both baseball and softball went on to win a game at the NCAA Regionals. Softball made it to the regional final against Montclair State before suffering its second straight 2-0 defeat in as many days. Baseball knocked off top-seeded Moravian in the opening game of that regional before the magical season would come to a close.
