Nat Ballenberg ’07 was appointed as Haverford’s first Assistant Fitness Center Director, Strength & Conditioning Coach following the conclusion of the 2016-17 academic year. Ballenberg accepted the position after serving as a volunteer since the start of the 2014-15 academic year.

A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist since 2014, Ballenberg has already assisted in the development and implementation of the strength and conditioning programs for each of Haverford’s 23 varsity teams. On top his customary duties which including assisting in all aspects of the fitness center, he will now also be responsible for overseeing recreational and wellness programming for all Haverford community members.

In this newly created role, he will work specifically with the Office of Academic Resources on the Healthy Mind, Healthy Body program while also serving on the Joe Schwartz ’83 3K Run/Walk committee. Ballenberg will also be responsible for teaching courses within the Physical Education curriculum, including introductory, intermediate, and advanced level fitness classes.

“The Arn '76 and Nancy Tellem Fitness Center serves as the focal point for the "integrated" aspect of the GIAC and since the usage has increased dramatically - almost from the moment the new fitness center was opened - it is with much relief that we welcome Nat to help address the many and varied needs of Haverford's diverse staff and student population,” said Haverford College Director of Athletics Wendy Smith ’87 at the time of Ballenberg's hiring.

Ballenberg has also served as pitching coach for the Fords’ baseball team during the past seven seasons, helping the team win its first three Centennial Conference Championships in program history. Outside of Haverford, he has worked with DiverseCITY Sports in Haverford, Pa. where he founded the baseball arm of the summer athletics camp program. He was directly responsible for every aspect of the baseball camps, including organization, scheduling, and day-to-day operations.

Graduating from Haverford in 2007, Ballenberg was a four-year member of the baseball team and honored with the Coaches’ Award following the completion of his senior season. He graduated from Haverford with a degree in economics before obtaining his master’s degree in sports leadership from Northeastern University in 2014.
