GLASSBORO, N.J. – The Haverford College baseball team fell behind early and couldn't get its offense going, losing to the Rowan University Profs 10-2 at Rowan Baseball Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Ryan Pavlik reached base via an error to lead off the home half of the first inning. The Rowan right fielder then stole second and scored on a Jason Clapper RBI single to right center. Clapper would later score in the frame on a sacrifice bunt to give Rowan an early 2-0 advantage.

The Profs added three more runs in the third, two more in the fourth inning and a single run in the fifth to take an 8-0 lead. In the eighth inning, freshman Ben Furlong recorded his second career RBI with a ground out that scored freshman Matt Goss. Senior Marley Randazzo's RBI ground out in the ninth inning plated home the Fords' second run of the contest.

Sophomore Ben Verducci extended his hitting streak to six games with a double in his first at-bat. Freshman Mike Schmandt picked up his first collegiate hit in the game. Senior Casey Fox threw two scoreless innings in relief while senior Michael de Armas did not allow an earned run in 1 2/3 innings of work.

Haverford's record drops to 4-7 on the season while Rowan improves to 9-5 overall. The Fords will welcome TCNJ to Kannerstein Field on Friday (Mar. 27) in a makeup from a postponement on Feb. 28. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
