HAVERFORD, Pa. – Senior Tommy Bergjans of the Haverford College baseball team earned an American Baseball Coaches' Association (ABCA)/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-American third team accolade.

It has been a banner week for the pitcher as he was named to the D3baseball.com All-American first team and ABCA/Rawlings Mid-Atlantic All-Region on Wednesday. D3baseball.com also selected him to its All-Mid-Atlantic Region first team and All-Mid-Atlantic Pitcher of the Year on Monday.

Bergjans' senior campaign was spectacular as he had a 5-3 record, 1.07 ERA and 111 strikeouts in 67 1/3 innings. At press time, the Manhattan Beach, Calif. native is the NCAA Division III leader in strikeouts and strikeouts per nine innings (14.48). He became the first Ford in program history to strike out over 100 batters in a season and is the Centennial Conference all-time leader in strikeouts. The Fords' pitcher posted eight 10+ strikeout outings and finishes his career with 18 total.

The three-time All-American was also picked to the All-Centennial Conference first team for the third consecutive time, making him the seventh player in conference history to achieve that mark. He also became the first pitcher in the Centennial Conference to ever win the Pitcher of the Year award three seasons in a row.

The right hander graduates as the program's all-time leader in lowest earned run average (1.69), lowest opponent batting average (.195), strikeouts per nine (11.91), wins (27), innings pitched (282.2) and most strikeouts (374).
