HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford College sophomore Spencer Sohmer was named the top bat in the Centennial Conference this week after leading an offense that the Fords rode to a 4-0 record. Over the course of the week, Sohmer batted .500 with nine hits in 18 at bats.

The third baseman's best game came in the first of a doubleheader against Gettysburg on Saturday. He went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and five RBI. Most notably, though, he hit two home runs including a grand slam. Sohmer headlined an offense that made Haverford history-- the team's 26 total runs in the game were second best in the program and their six home runs are a new school record.

This marks the second time this season a Haverford player has won Player of the Week (Nick Ott) and the third time a player has won a conference award as pitcher Justin Herring won Pitcher of the Week.

The Fords finished the regular season second in the Centennial with a 24-12 overall record and 13-5 record in the conference. They open up postseason play on Thursday when they host McDaniel at 3 p.m. on Kannerstein Field.
