HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College shortstop Ben Furlong has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. Furlong picks up the award on the heels of a week that saw the Washington, D.C. product set the program single-game record for home runs (3) and total bases (13).

Furlong set a program and tied a Centennial single-game record with his three home runs in Haverford's 14-8 loss to Franklin & Marshall, going 4-4 with 5 RBI on the contest. Furlong also added a two-run homer that provided much needed insurance in Haverford's 6-3 win at Ursinus the next day. For the week, Furlong hit .389 with four homers, nine RBI and a 1.111 slugging percentage.

Last season, Furlong was named honorable mention All-Centennial Conference as well as the Centennial Conference Gold Glove of the Year award, given to the conference's most outstanding defensive performer.

Furlong and the Fords return to Centennial Conference action on Wednesday, taking on Washington College at 3:30 p.m. in Chestertown, Md.
