HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College baseball team received votes in Collegiate Baseball's 2018 Division III Preseason Poll, the publication announced on Wednesday evening. The rankings are the first to be released leading up to the start of the 2018 season.

Centennial Conference champions Johns Hopkins are ranked 17th in the preseason prognostication. SUNY Cortland, defending national champion Cal Lutheran, Keystone, North Central (Ill.) and UMass Boston are the top five teams in the nation according to the poll voters.

Haverford is tested on its spring break trip, facing off with Wooster, the ninth ranked team in the Collegiate Baseball poll, on March 17 in Fort Myers, Fla. The Fords face off with TCNJ, ranked 22nd, and Rowan, ranked 36th, on back-to-back days, doing battle with Rowan on March 27 and TCNJ on March 28.  Haverford's first opponent of the 2018 season, Catholic, is also receiving votes in the poll.

The Fords are looking for an 11th straight appearance in the Centennial Conference Tournament under head coach Dave Beccaria. Haverford qualified for the Centennial Conference Tournament for the 10th straight season and the 12th time in 13 seasons in 2017. In addition, Haverford reached the 20-win plateau for the seventh time in eight campaigns in 2017.

Haverford will open up the 2017 campaign on March 3 at Catholic. The matchup is slated to be played at the Washington Nationals Youth Academy in Washington, D.C.
