Signature Wins: Haverford posted one of its finest wins of the season on the annual spring break trip to Fort Myers, Fla, dispatching an eventual College World Series team in then-No. 6 Wooster by a 1-0 final (Mar. 17). Dylan Livingston pitched an early season gem, striking out 10 over six innings while first year Andrew Johnson pitched the final three innings to secure his first career save … The Fords started conference competition with an offensive explosion, combining for 32 runs in just 14 innings in a doubleheader sweep of McDaniel (Mar. 31).
The Fords kept the road momentum going with a doubleheader sweep at Franklin & Marshall (Apr. 7) before coming home to take down Johns Hopkins in the second game of a doubleheader (Apr. 14). First year Ryan Giovenco retired the first eight Blue Jays hitters he faced while senior Michael Schwarze hit two home runs in the home win. The Fords also notched a pair of road wins against Dickinson (Apr. 21), sweeping a doubleheader behind strong pitching performances from Giovenco and Nathan Bass.
Season Notes: The Fords took down a ranked opponent for the second straight season after beating No. 16 TCNJ on March 30 of last season … Lee-Tyson became Haverford's 27th first-team selection in program history … Haverford now has a streak of at least one first-team All-Centennial Conference performer every year since 2005 … Lee-Tyson garnered D3Baseball.com's All-Mid-Atlantic recognition for the second straight season … Spencer Sohmer leaves Haverford in the top five in program history in RBI (114), total bases (256), at-bats (515), doubles (36) and triples (8) … Sophomore second baseman Will Karp ranked 13th in the nation in stolen bases and eighth in stolen bases per game (0.81) … Karp's 29 steals were the fourth-most in the program's single-season history.

Looking ahead: Haverford will be without the leadership of its 2018 senior class that includes Spencer Sohmer, Michael Schwarze, Patrick O'Shea, Justin Herring, Matt Goss and Ben Furlong. Head Coach Dave Beccaria will be looking for his 400th career victory in 2019. Ethan Lee-Tyson returns from a second consecutive All-Region season and will step into the role of captain along with Jared Turner and Tom Phillips. Dylan Livingston and Nathan Vucovich were the veterans in a pitching corps that saw all but 12 starts come from newcomers. That group will return with another fall campaign under its belt. Ryan Giovenco, Nathan Bass and Andrew Johnson will all return after solid debut seasons while Luke Duris will be in his senior season after making his debut at Haverford last spring. In the lineup, first year catcher Ben Somorjai emerged as an offensive threat and will be counted upon in 2019. With top offensive producers Sohmer, Schwarze and Goss graduated, rising juniors Owen Plambeck and Will Karp will return to help anchor the lineup with rising seniors Lee-Tyson and Partee. After narrowly missing the playoffs for the first time in more than a decade, the Fords fully expect to compete for another conference championship in 2019.
