Full D3Baseball.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region Release
HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford sophomore pitcher Nathan Bass has been named to the D3Baseball.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region third team, the organization announced in a release on Thursday afternoon. The selection of Bass to the third team represents the seventh straight season that at least one Haverford player has earned All-Region honors from D3Baseball.
Bass is the first pitcher to earn the award for the Fords since Justin Herring following the 2016 season. In total, Bass logged a 4-2 record with a 2.28 ERA, striking out 53 batters in 47.1 innings this year. The righty held opponents to a .176 average and compiled six outings with five or more strikeouts. A second-team All-Centennial Conference selection, Bass was called upon for starting assignments with regularity for Haverford, taking the ball in the first inning five times against conference teams. Bass posted a 2-2 record in those outings, notching 28.2 innings pitched while registering a 2.83 ERA with 30 strikeouts. His strikeout total in conference games ranked third in the Centennial.
The Falls Church, Va. product was named Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Week on March 30 after holding Gettysburg to just three hits in seven shutout innings, striking out 12 in an 8-1 triumph for Haverford at Kannerstein Field. Bass also twirled a gem in his final regular season contest against McDaniel, throwing seven scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out seven in an emphatic 11-0 win over the Green Terror as Haverford clinched a Centennial Conference playoff berth. Bass got the ball in a must-win game against Muhlenberg in the Centennial Conference tournament on May 4 in Baltimore, tossing 5.1 innings, allowing just five hits and one earned run while striking out a pair on 87 pitches to pick up the win over the Mules.
The 2019 season marks the eighth year that D3baseball.com has named All-Region teams, with more than 800 players nominated. The ballot was then made available to sports information directors, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region, as well as D3baseball.com staff and contributors.
