Title: Assistant Coach
Previous College: Haverford '07

Former Haverford hurler Nat Ballenberg '07 enters his ninth year as the Fords' pitching coach in 2019. Ballenberg is also the Assistant Fitness Center Director and Strength and Conditioning Coach for Haverford Athletics.

Under Ballenberg’s tutelage, Haverford pitchers helped the Fords capture the conference title in 2012, 2014 and 2016.

Ballenberg oversaw the development of breakout pitchers Justin Herring and Stephen Ridings in 2016. Herring was as reliable as they come during the 2016 campaign, posting the best ERA in the Centennial Conference in 2016 at 1.58 en-route to All-Centennial Conference first team honors as well as ABCA/Rawlings All-Region second team and D3Baseball.com All-Region second team honors.

Ridings was named to All-Centennial Conference second team honors in 2016, appearing in 12 games and posting a 6-3 record with a 2.62 ERA and a team-leading 87 strikeouts, a mark that was good for second in the Centennial. Ridings was picked in the eighth round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs and made his debut in the organization, pitching for the Rookie League AZL Cubs in 2017, and reaching the Single A Eugene (Ore.) Emeralds in 2018.

Ballenberg also was instrumental in the development of three-time All-American and three-time Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Year, Tommy Bergans ’15. Bergjans went on to be the first Division III player picked in the Major League Baseball Amateur draft as he was selected in the eighth round by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Bergjans is currently pitching in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

In the summer of 2017, Ballenberg served as pitching coach for the AZL Brewers, the Rookie League Affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers in Phoenix, Ariz.

Ballenberg played professionally in Israel and Germany and coached pitchers at the high school level prior to joining the Haverford coaching staff.
