Cricket gets past Germantown

PHILADELPHIA – The Haverford College cricket team beat Germantown Cricket Club by 13 runs this past Saturday to win the first of its six matches in this year's Philadelphia International Cricket Festival.

Haverford won the toss and elected to bat first. By the end of its 20 overs, the team scored 99 runs and lost of six wickets. Andriy Mshanetskyy led the Fords' scoring with a whopping 41 runs (retired). The second-leading scorer was Daniel Waranch with 12 runs (not out), followed by Neilay Shah with 11 runs (caught out).

Haverford then took the field and stole two wickets in the first three overs. The Fords held Germantown to 86 runs, getting them all out for 19.3 overs. Waranch took two wickets for 15 runs, while Chris Garling also took two wickets for 12 runs. Kamran Khan finished with three wickets for seven runs and Shah took one wicket for 14 runs.

Saturday marked a great start for Haverford in the annual festival that continues this upcoming weekend.
