The Haverford College cricket team tied with the British Officers Cricket Club (BOCC) earlier this week and lost to the Merion Cricket Club today.

Wednesday
:
Haverford's opening match of the spring against the BOFCC ended in a draw after being cut short for darkness. BOCC batted first and scored 75 runs in 15 overs. Sophomores David White and Chris Garling had strong bowling performances for Haverford. In its offensive innings, the Fords scored 33 runs in seven overs before play was stopped due to poor light.

Saturday
:
On the road, the Fords lost to Merion Cricket Club. Merion batted first, and with an offense led by Chris Badwell (36 runs) and Shariq Khan (24 runs) -- plus Haverford's 36 extras -- reached a total of 155 runs in 25 overs. Garling bowled out three of Merion's batsmen.

Haverford responded with an impressive inning. Facing bowls swinging in every direction, Haverford had one of its most consistent offensive attacks as three batsmen stayed in for eight or more overs. Senior Danny Rothschild (20 runs in eight overs), White (19 runs in 14 overs) and junior Daniel Waranch (15 runs in 10 overs), and the team batted through all 25 overs. However, the Fords' 95 runs were not enough to overcome Merion.

Next Saturday
, Haverford will host alumni spanning from the Class of 1988 through 2014.
