Cricket Takes Part in Philadelphia International Cricket Festival

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College cricket team dropped all four of its matches in the Philadelphia International Cricket Festival this weekend.

Cavaliers 94/2 (14.2), Haverford 93/6 (16)
The first contest, on Thursday brought the Colonial Cavaliers Cricket Club (of Boston) to Cope Field in a delayed match shortened to 16 overs. Haverford, batting first, hit its way to 93 runs, with David White scoring 27 (not out) and Danny Rothschild scoring 22. But on defense, the Fords missed several opportunities to catch out the Cavaliers' Jim Andrew, who scored 40 runs (retired - not out). Led by Andrew and Pete Hawthorne (26 runs, not out), the Cavaliers overtook the Fords with under two overs to go.

Colorado 157/7 (20), Haverford 112/5 (20)
On Friday, Haverford played a doubleheader. The first match of the day was another close one, this time against the Colorado Cricket Club. Colorado batted first, and behind Kit Diasabeygunawarden's 42 runs (retired - not out), hit its way to 157 runs for 7 wickets. Batting for the Fords, Raghav Bali (40 runs, retired - not out) and Daniel Waranch (25 runs, not out), showed great strength against the toughest bowling the Fords saw all season. Still, the Fords' 112 runs were not enough.

New Zealand 88/4 (17.2), Haverford 87/8 (20)
The Fords took a tough loss in game two of their doubleheader vs. New Zealand. New Zealand overtook the Fords' 87 runs in its 18th over.

Sarasota 190/5 (20), Haverford 27/10 (12.2)
A new day did not bring luck to Haverford, which faced the Sarasota Cricket Club on Saturday. Each member of the Sarasota offense pounded the ball all over the field, leading to 190 runs. The Fords finished the season with just 27 runs before all the bails fell in the 13th over.
