2017 Haverford Cricket Schedule

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College Cricket team has announced the fall portion of its 2017-18 schedule, including five consecutive home contests on Cope Field to begin the season. In total, the Fords will play six matches as part of the 2017 slate.

The action begins on Saturday, September 16 as Haverford welcomes Villanova to campus for a noon match. The Fords last squared off with Villanova in 2011. On Sunday, September 17, the Fords will match up with Philadelphia's Prior Cricket Club. The two sides last faced in 2011 and have played 36 times dating back to 1974.

More familiar opposition dots the remainder of the docket as the Haverford XI welcomes British Officers Cricket Club and Temple for noon contests on Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24, respectively. The Fords came away with a pair of wins against British Officers last season and tied with Temple.

On October 1, the Fords will host Amwell Valley Cricket Club for the fifth consecutive season before making the short jaunt to Merion Cricket Club for the sole away contest of the season on October 8. The autumn faceoff will be the 65th all-time meeting between the sides. Both October matchups are scheduled for noon.

Haverford will return 16 players from the 2016-17 team. With the graduation of senior captain David White, rising junior captain Raghav Bali will step into a new role as senior captain while Andrew Cornell has been named the incoming junior captain.
