Waldis earns Scholar of Distinction honor

CHANDLER, Ariz. – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) has released its 2013 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division III Scholars of Distinction list and Haverford College sophomore Sarah Waldis earned inclusion on the elite listing.

To be eligible for the scholar of distinction list a student-athlete must have achieved a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.90 through the first semester of the 2013-14 academic year. A total of 131 student-athletes from across the nation qualified for the D-III roster.

Waldis, a sophomore midfielder, was recently named a member of the Gladiator/NFHCA national academic squad and the Fords were also honored with national academic team status.

In November 2013 Waldis was voted a first-team All-Centennial Conference selection after she and her team played their way into the semifinals of the Centennial's postseason tournament.

One month prior to her all-conference announcement Waldis was honored with the 2013 MacIntosh Award which is presented annually to the top scholar-athlete in the first-year class at Haverford.
