SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Haverford College field hockey team had a banner day in defeating the Swarthmore College Garnet 11-2 on Saturday afternoon at Clothier Field.

With their 11 goals, the Fords tied the school record for goals in a game. That mark has been reached three other times in program history. Senior Jen DiMaria set a new school record with five goals, including three in the first seven minutes of game action. Her five goals were just one shy of the Centennial Conference record as were her 11 points in the game which set a new program record.

The Fords got the scoring started early and often against the Garnet. DiMaria registered her first of the game just 30 seconds in. About three and half minutes later, junior Brenna Boehman scored her fourth goal of the season from the top of the circle. DiMaria had her second of the game in the fifth minute off a penalty corner. Just two minutes later, the senior recorded the hat trick in a battle in front of the goalie.

In the ninth minute, freshman Paige Carson tallied her fifth goal of the year on an assist from DiMaria. Senior Catherine Aronowitz added her career-high eighth goal of the season just before half time in the 33th minute.

Boehman found the hot hand, DiMaria, off a penalty corner which gave the senior her fourth of the game in the 45th minute. Senior Brooke Kelly got one past the Swarthmore goaltender off a rebound attempt four minutes later. DiMaria had her fifth goal in the 51st minute while junior Allison Martin ended the scoring for the visitors in the 68th minute.

The senior class of Jacque Fagan, Aronowitz, DiMaria and Kelley combined for seven goals and two assists on the day. The four seniors end their career having appeared in three Centennial Conference Tournaments.

Carson finished with her second game of at least one goal and one assist. Terrell ended the season with goals in two of the last three games. Freshman Malin Ehrsam registered her first career point in the victory.

The Fords wrapped up the 2014 campaign at 8-9 on the season and 4-6 in the Centennial Conference while Swarthmore fell to 2-16 and 1-9 in conference play.
