NFHCA Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Seniors Sarah Waldis (first team) and Allison Martin (second team) were selected to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association's (NFHCA) All-South Regional teams today.

It's the first time that a Ford has been named to the NFHCA All-South Region team since Bryn Bissey '14 in 2013 (second team). The Fords had at least one player named to the team from 2009-13 while Maria Robinson '99 was the first representative from Haverford to be picked for the squad in 1998.

Waldis had a banner senior campaign as she set new career highs in goals (nine), assists (five) and points (23). The captain of the field hockey team had tallies in eight games this season, registering her first career multi-goal outing in a 7-0 victory over Immaculata (Sept. 15).

Her stellar season led her to being honored on the All-Centennial Conference first team. It was Waldis' second All-Centennial Conference accolade as she was a second-team member in 2013. The senior also made the Centennial Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll for the third time and was the recipient of the conference's Scholar-Athlete Award, given to the junior or senior on the all-conference team that has the highest cumulative GPA.

Martin added two assists and two defensive saves to help the Fords return to the Centennial Conference playoffs after a one-year absence. The senior is a three-time conference Defender of the Week award winner including once this season (Oct. 5). This is Martin's second appearance on the All-CC team as she was nominated for the second team last season. Just like Waldis, the defender has been on the Centennial Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll three straight times.

Haverford finished 11-7 in 2015, making the Centennial Conference playoffs for the sixth time in the last seven seasons. The Fords have won at least 10 games in five of head coach Jackie Cox's six seasons.
