Danielle Rette Named PhilaFH Defender of the Week

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford senior co-captain goalkeeper Danielle Rette has been named the PhilaFH Defender of the Week after a week in which the Fords went 2-0. In a 3-1 victory over Cabrini, Rette posted nine saves and faced 13 corner attempts for a .933 save percentage. In Haverford's 5-3 win over Eastern, Rette notched 10 saves, faced nine corners and finished with a .857 save percentage for the game. 

Rette has held the opposition to just a 1.40 goals against average while stopping 34 shots. She has posted two shutouts, against then-No. 18 Alvernia and Lebanon Valley, and has anchored the defensive effort as the Fords have matched the program's best start to a season with a 5-0 record. 

Head Coach Jackie Cox praised Rette's start to the season saying, "Danielle enters her senior year with experience and confidence. Her footwork timing and decision making is on target so far and she has a big voice in the circle. I am very happy with her ability to challenge the ball in the circle and she has come a long way. Her teammates trust her and as a senior captain she's excited for the rest of the season."

Rette was a 2016 First-team All-Centennial Conference selection and was twice named Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week after a year in which she posted five shutouts, starting all 18 games and seeing all but 35 minutes in the cage for the Fords, who advanced to the Centennial Conference playoffs. Rette was named to the Centennial Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll in both 2015 and 2016 and is a perennial selection to the NFHCA Gladiator by SGI Division III Academic Squad.

The New Egypt, N.J. product and the rest of the Fords will return to action on Saturday at 12:00 p.m as they travel to Glassboro, N.J. for a matchup with Rowan. With a victory, the Fords wlll set a new program record for consecutive victories to begin a season.
