Danielle Rette Named CC Defensive Player of the Week

HAVERFORD, Pa.  – Haverford senior goalkeeper Danielle Rette has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 29, the conference office announced in a release on Monday afternoon. 

Rette takes home the award after a 2-0 week in which she did not allow a goal in 122 minutes and 26 seconds of action in the cage, including a shutout on Senior Day at Swan Field. Rette made four saves on the week as the Fords blanked Bryn Mawr and Hood Trophy rival Swarthmore, clinching a third-consecutive playoff berth with a fourth-consecutive win to close out regular season action. On the season, Rette has tallied a Centennial-best five shutouts in 17 total starts. She has maintained a goals against average of 1.54, the third best mark in the Centennial. She has stopped 88 total shots, good for sixth in the conference.

At the end of the regular season of her senior campaign, Rette sits in fifth place all-time amongst Haverford goalkeepers with a 1.68 goals against average. Her 20 career wins in sixth-most in Haverford history and her 5.32 saves per game is ninth-best in the history of the program. The award represents third all-time Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week award for the New Egypt, N.J. product as she won the award in back-to-back weeks during the 2016 campaign.

Rette was also named PhilaFH.com Defender of the Week on September 13 of this season after blanking No. 18 Alvernia and Lebanon Valley to begin the 2017 campaign.

Rette and Haverford return to action on Tuesday, October 31 as the Centennial Conference Tournament begins with first round action. The Fords take on Washington College in Chestertown, Md. The contest under the lights is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.

The winner of the contest will advance to face Johns Hopkins on Friday, November 3 at Homewood Field in Baltimore, Md. The semifinal matchup will begin at 12:30 p.m.
