Signature wins: The Haverford College field hockey sprinted out to a hot start to open the 2018-19 campaign, winning four in a row in the non-conference portion of the schedule. In the first contest of the season, the Fords battled rainy conditions at Cabrini (Aug. 31), coming away with a 3-0 win as first year goalkeeper Hannah Roth picked up her first career shutout in the process. The Fords then went on the road to an always solid Alvernia squad (Sept. 2), coming away with a 3-1 win in which Roth made a save on a penalty stroke and Paige Powell tallied a pair of goals. A home win against Eastern (Sept. 8) served as a prelude to a midweek triumph at Immaculata (Sept. 11), as the Fords won their 14th straight over the Mighty Macs.
In conference competition, Haverford outlasted Gettysburg (Oct. 6), prevailing on a Lucy Tortolani goal in overtime to turn away the Bullets in less than ideal conditions. The Fords followed up that contest with a decisive victory over Washington College (Oct. 10), returning to the site of a dramatic overtime victory in the first round of the 2017 conference tournament.

Season Notes: Haverford had 14 honorees on the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, the most in the conference … Haverford consistently tested itself with a strong schedule that included three of the four national semifinalists (Rowan, Tufts, and Johns Hopkins) … Head Coach Jackie Cox finishes the season with 96 career wins at Haverford and will look to reach the 100 win plateau next fall … Entering her senior season, Aronowitz is 16th in program history in career defensive saves with eight … Roth made an immediate impact between the pipes for the Fords, pulling into the top 20 in program career history in saves while logging a 1.50 GAA, the 10th-best single season mark in program history … Casey Wakai will enter her senior season with four penalty strokes successfully converted, the second-most in program career history behind Roxanne Jaffe '12, who tallied eight during her time on campus.
Looking ahead: The Fords will look to be in solid positon to return to the Centennial Conference playoffs after a year hiatus, returning 22 of its 25 goals this season. Rising senior Aronowitz and a strong rising junior class that includes lockdown defenders Leela Krishnan and Allyson Lynch. will anchor the backline. Roth enters her sophomore campaign with 15 starts in the cage, including a pair of shutouts to her name.
