Field Hockey Receiving Votes in NFHCA Poll Entering Conference Play

Full NFHCA Division III Coaches Poll

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College field hockey team enters conference play receiving votes in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Poll, the organization announced in a release on Tuesday afternoon. The Fords (6-1), are one of five unranked teams receiving votes, taking 74 total voting points. Previously unranked Kean moved into the Top 20 with 134 voting points this week. Middlebury, Rowan, TCNJ, Salisbury, and Tufts make up the top five teams in the most recent rankings release. 

Haverford went on the road for another big non-conference win on Saturday, taking a 3-1 decision over Misericordia behind a pair of second half goals. Ariana Sulpizio tallied a first half goal to stretch her team lead in goals to six. Sulpizio also leads the team with 16 points. Roxy Vassighi later notched the game-winner on a corner opportunity in the second half, her third tally of the year. Emma Iacobucci added an insurance goal in the final quarter, her fifth of the season.

Haverford has displayed well-rounded prowess, ranking 21st in Division III in scoring average (3.45 goals per game) as well as goals against average (0.97).

The Fords welcome Muhlenberg (4-2, 0-2 CC) to Swan Field for the Centennial Conference opener on Wednesday evening. Haverford then enters a challenging slate of nationally ranked opponents, heading to No. 8 Franklin & Marshall for a Saturday matinee (12 p.m.). Haverford then returns to host No. 9 Johns Hopkins (October 5) before finishing the stretch at No. 10 Ursinus (Oct. 9).
