HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College field hockey team (6-2, 0-1 CC) was upended by visiting Muhlenberg (5-1, 1-2 CC) on Wednesday evening at Swan Field, falling by a 1-0 final on as the visitors escaped overtime with a goal that came after the final buzzer of regulation.

In a series that has now been decided by one goal in each of the last six meetings, the early goings were characterized by the same tense atmosphere that has become familiar between the two sides, with every penalty corner opportunity and shot on frame so crucial to the final result.

The Fords fired the first shot on target, as Ravenel Davis saw her third-minute attempt saved by Mulhlenberg goalkeeper Jordan Segrave. Segrave's Haverford counterpart, Sunny Truslow, was up to the task against a swarming Muhlenberg attack, turning away a pair of shots in the first quarter. Truslow again was called into action in the opening seconds of the second quarter, and the Haverford defense held stout against a flurry of Muhlenberg corners just before halftime. At the intermission, Muhlenberg held an 8-2 advantage in penalty corners, with Truslow notching four saves.

After neither side put a shot on goal in the third, the fourth quarter saw Ariana Sulpizio miss wide with her attempt in the 51st minute. Truslow again made a stop in the 54th minute of action, and Sarah Raab missed high for the Mules just moments later. With just two seconds reading on the scoreboard, Muhlenberg was awarded one final corner opportunity. The visitors converted as time expired, with Raab taking an entry pass from Morgan Tietz at the top of the circle and slotting her shot into the cage towards the far post, sending the Mules to a stunning road victory.

Truslow finished with a career-best six saves in her 60 minutes between the pipes.

The Fords, receiving votes in the latest NFHCA poll, now return to action Saturday, heading to No. 8 Franklin & Marshall for a matinee. First pass in Lancaster, Pa. is slated for noon.
