HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's basketball team poured in 14 three-pointers on Wednesday evening during an 88-50 victory over Bryn Athyn. Those 14 triples were just one shy of the program record set back in 2006 against Ursinus. The Fords (7-1) are now just one of four teams in program history to start a season with a 7-1 or better record, joining the 1944-45, 1964-65, and 1976-77 squads.

Twelve different Fords found their way into the scoring column, led by Jonathan Lang's 17-point outing. Lang scored 15 of those points during the opening half and was joined in double figures by first-years Dhruv Mehrotra and Charlie Mamlin who finished with 14 and 12 points, respectively. Both Mamlin and Mehrotra connected on four treys as the Fords finished 14-of-30 (46.7%) from beyond the arc. Haverford was 28-for-60 (46.7%) from the field overall while making 18 of its 20 attempts at the charity stripe.

The visiting Lions started strong on Wednesday night as they jumped out to a 10-5 advantage during the early minutes. However, when the Fords began to find their shooting touch they ran off 31 of the next 33 points to put the game at a 20-point advantage with more than five minutes to play in the opening half.

Lang scored the Fords' first 12 points before the rest of the team found its shooting touch as Haverford finished the half shooting 55.6% from the field. Lang was 5-for-8 over the first 20 minutes, while Jack Cork and Ryan Trotter also knocked down both of their shots from the field in the opening half.

Haverford eventually carried a 41-19 edge into the half as it made six treys during the first 20 minutes. During the second half, eight of the Fords' 13 baskets came from beyond the arc. That hot shooting from distance complimented a 13-of-15 half at the line as the Fords outscored the Lions by a 47-31 edge over the final 20 minutes during the eventual 88-50 victory.

The Fords' lead grew to as many as 38 points, 87-49, with just under two minutes remaining in regulation. Haverford finished the contest with a 31-2 advantage in fast break points and a 59-18 edge in points off the bench. Playing great team basketball, as only one player saw over 20 minutes of playing time, the Fords assisted on 21 of the team's 28 field goals. Trotter led those efforts with six dimes while Jackson Ryan added three more.

Men's basketball will look to continue its hot start to the season with its final game of the calendar year this Saturday against Muhlenberg. Originally scheduled to be played in Allentown, Saturday's contest will now be played at Haverford with a newly scheduled 2:30 p.m. start inside the Gooding Arena. The Fords will later take the trip to Muhlenberg in the middle of February in what was Haverford's original home contest. Muhlenberg enters this weekend's contest receiving votes in the latest D3Hoops.com national poll.
