A veteran of the coaching profession, Rudy Wise has joined the Haverford College men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach at the start of the 2016-17 season. Wise comes to Haverford after previous coaching stops at Villanova University, the University of Pennsylvania, and most recently Rosemont College.

In addition to his coaching duties at Rosemont College, Wise worked full time as Rosemont’s Admissions Counselor for the School of Graudate and Professional Studies – a position he still holds. With the men’s basketball program, he was responsible for organizing practice plans, individual workouts, and game day shoot-arounds.

Prior to Rosemont, Wise served as the academic liaison and assistant coach for University of Pennsylvania's men's basketball team for two seasons. He was responsible for assisting in recruiting by actively by traveling the United States. Wise also collaborated with the University’s Academic Coordinator to establish academic strategy and plans of study for all members of the team. In similar positions at Fellowship Farm and Delaware County Community College, he provided leadership and diversity training for young adults, conducted group and individual exercises to enhance interpersonal communication and identify leadership qualities.

Wise got his start in coaching at the collegiate level as a graduate assistant intern for Villanova University. In that role, he was responsible for handling the Wildcats’ office management and program operations while also assisting in advanced scouting as the team advanced to the NCAA Tournament. He was also charged with marketing and promotions of head coach Jay Wright’s summer basketball camps where he worked as a coach and commissioner.

Wise graduated from Lake Forest College in Illinois in 2003, and played basketball for the Foresters. He also holds a master's degree in Strategic Communications from Villanova.
