Men's fencing announces schedule

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College fencing teams have announced their 2013-14 schedules.

Both squads will start off the season at the Temple Open with the women competing on Oct. 26 and the men in action on Oct. 27.

The men's and women's teams will then travel to New York for the Vassar (College) Invitational on Nov. 10.

The first of two straight competitions at home will take place the following weekend as the Fords host some of the best competition the region has to offer at Alumni Field House on Nov. 16 before competing against local rivals Swarthmore College, Bryn Mawr College and Drexel University on Dec. 7.

Haverford will do battle with several Division I heavyweights in the last two weekends of January as the Fords travel to the Penn State Invitational (Jan. 12) and Philly Invitational (Jan. 25-26).

After both squads compete in the Sollee Invitational, hosted by Brandeis University, on Feb. 1, the women will turn their attention to championship competition. The Eastern Women's Fencing Conference (EWFC) team championships take place on Feb. 9 while individual championship action occurs on Feb. 16 at the Stevens Institute of Technology. The women's slate continues with the National Intercollegiate Women's Fencing Association (NIWFA) on March 1.

The men will also be busy as they participate in the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association (MACFA) Invitational on Feb. 9 before the MACFA championships on March 2.

NCAA regional competition takes place on March 8.
