Olympian and former head coach Dave Littell has returned to the Haverford College fencing program as an assistant coach with the Fords. Littell served as head coach for six seasons (2001-07) and guided the men’s program to a pair of MACFA Championships and led the women to what was at the time a program-best third-place finish at both the EWFC and NIWFA Championships.

Dave Littell has had an outstanding sports career. He started as a fencer, was a junior national champion, and earned All-American honors at the University of Illinois. Eventually pursuing a tennis career, Littell returned to fencing after a 10-year break. He went on to make the 1987 US Pan American team, winning a bronze medal in team foil and then made the 1988 US Olympic team. After a short second fencing career, Littell turned to coaching junior fencers before becoming head coach at Haverford.
