YORK, Pa. – Jack Bodine scored the first goal of the game and added another late in the opening period for Haverford College's men's lacrosse team, but host York (Pa.) College had too much offense in the 18th-ranked Spartans' 13-4 non-conference victory over the visiting Fords on Saturday afternoon at Kinsley Field.

The loss slips Haverford's record to 0-3 while York improves to 5-1.

Bodine helped the Fords jump out of the starting gate quickly when the junior scored at the 13:25 mark of the opening period for his first goal of the season.

York rallied with three unanswered goals, including the last one with 21 seconds remaining in the period. But the Fords' Andrew Dalke won the ensuing faceoff after that third marker, scooped up the ground ball then raced downfield and fed Bodine who halved the deficit with 14 ticks left on the clock.

The Spartans were able to stretch the lead to 5-2 before Geoff Geppert, with his third of the year, drew Haverford back to within two, 5-3, with 8:29 left before halftime.

Two York goals before the break allowed the hosts to take a 7-3 lead into the intermission, and then five more tallies over the third and beginning of the fourth periods put the game away.

Haverford's Tav Hafner, with his first career goal, ended the seven-goal streak by the home team as the sophomore scored an unassisted marker with 7:37 to play.

York's Tyler Hutson, with his game-leading fourth goal, scored two minutes later for the contests final goal.

Eric Caliendo registered 13 saves on the day in taking the loss in goal for Haverford while York starter Caleb Abney earned the win after making seven saves. Abney gave way to James Anderson and then Christian Koch after 52 minutes in the cage and the trio finished with a total of 10 saves.

Haverford continues it's season-opening non-conference stretch with Tuesday's home game at Swan Field against Mt. St. Mary (N.Y.) College. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
