Men's lacrosse ends season at Swarthmore

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Haverford College men's lacrosse team ended its season with a 7-5 loss to host Swarthmore College in Centennial Conference action at Clothier Field on Saturday afternoon.

Chris Christensen tallied the game's first goal as the two squads traded goals twice over the first 15 minutes of play. Freshman Richard Greenberg accounted for Haverford's other first-period goal.

The rival Garnet (5-10, 2-6 CC) outscored the Fords 5-1 in the second quarter to move out to a 7-3 advantage at the break.

Haverford (1-13, 0-8) scored the only two goals of second-half action as sophomore Hunter Sentner and Christensen each got one past Swarthmore goalie Jonathan Cohen (5-10) in the third quarter.

Greenberg and Christian Clay each registered an assist in the contest while goalie Eric Caliendo (1-13) finished with 16 saves in the loss.

Jonathan Molloy and Ian Lukaszewicz led the Garnet with two goals apiece.

The victory gave Swarthmore just its fourth point in this year's contest for the Hood Trophy. Haverford clinched its 23rd straight victory in the annual friendly competition between the two institutions this past Thursday.

The season finale brought an end to the careers of Christensen, Clay, Dan LoSardo, Nick Schoen, Nate Becker, Jordan Hitchcock and Hunter Witmer.
