Season Review: Men's lacrosse faces national schedule

Signature win: The Fords had four different players score two or more goals in a 16-3 win over Mount Saint Mary on March 11. Christian Clay led Haverford with six goals and four assists for 10 points. Jack Bodine added three scores and assisted on another, while Geoff Geppert had a hat trick of assists. The Fords outshot Mount Saint Mary 52-13 and received five saves from goalie Eric Caliendo in the win. Tav Hafner and Evan Dorman each netted a pair of scores for the Fords in the contest, while Richard Greenberg and Hunter Sentner each notched a goal. The Haverford defense limited the Mount to only three scores and never let the visitors score more than one goal in any quarter in the game.

Season notes: A schedule laden with nationally ranked teams saw the Fords battled against multiple championship caliber teams. Haverford played well in nearly every game as the Fords lost seven games by three or less goals. Bodine and Clay led the men's lacrosse team in scoring as both players tied for the team lead with 22 points. Chris Christensen finished the season as the leading goal scorer, tallying 17 goals on the year. Goalkeeper Eric Caliendo started and played in all 14 games and finished the season with 175 saves and recorded a save percentage of .554. Andrew Dalke was Haverford's faceoff man for the entire season and won a team-high 63 faceoffs and also led the squad with 37 groundballs. Senior Hunter Witmer caused a team-best 19 turnovers throughout the year.

Looking ahead: The Fords return 10 of their top 12 scorers from 2014 and will have a plethora of weapons in the arsenal. Jack Bodine and Brandon Boccellari finished first and fourth on the team in points, respectively, and will direct the offensive unit in 2015. Caliendo now has two full seasons of starting goalkeeper experience and his development will go a long way towards helping the Fords make a run at the Centennial Tournament. Andrew Dalke and Ben Miltenberg will battle for the faceoff duties and the competition should help Haverford improve on winning more faceoffs next year. With a multitude of returners and a talented incoming class Haverford men's lacrosse will be ready to excel on the lacrosse field in 2015.
