YORK, Pa. – The Haverford College men's lacrosse team saw its four-game winning streak snapped on Saturday afternoon against the No. 8 York. The Spartans (6-1) raced out to an 8-3 lead at the half. Despite a basically even second half from the Fords (4-2), it was not enough to overcome the first half deficit.

Isaac Krier and Rob McLallen each scored two goals and had an assist to pace Haverford's attack. Stephen DeLeo and Jack Russ also scored with Ryan Tetro adding an assist. The Spartans showed great diversity on the attack with nine different players scoring a goal on their home turf.

York faceoff man Billy Sasso was very strong at the draw as he won 11 of his 12 attempts on the afternoon. The Spartans scored twice in the first five minutes on the same possession that resulted from his faceoff win. In between those goals, the Fords capitalized on a York turnover as McLallen set up DeLeo's seventh goal of the year. The host Spartans also added goals at the 9:08 and 5:34 mark of the opening quarter to lead 4-1 after 15 minutes.

The Spartans were whistled for a holding call with one second left in the opening quarter and with the Fords automatically taking possession in the second, McLallen scored just 16 seconds in to take advantage of the first man-up opportunity of the game. However, the Spartans closed the half on a 4-1 run with the second goal of the quarter from McLallen splitting up the attacks for his fourth goal on the year.

Coming out of the halftime, York scored twice in the first three minutes to hold its largest lead of the afternoon, 10-3. Haverford got those two goals back with tallies from Krier and Russ.

York extended its lead back to seven with a goal to close the third quarter and tally with 7:43 remaining in regulation. Krier scored the game's final goal with 5:37 to play. His sixth goal of the season was the final offense for either side in the 12-6 final.

Haverford got 12 saves in goal from Dylan Slack and turned the ball over just 12 times compared to York's 16 giveaways. Four different players were credited with a caused turnover for Haverford. Two of those Fords, PJ Jackson and Chandler Todd, also tied for the team lead with three ground balls.

After four straight games on the road, men's lacrosse will now return to Swan Field next Saturday for its first of three straight home games. That matchup against Stevens, which is also the final non-conference game of the regular season, is scheduled for a 2 p.m. faceoff.
