PHILADELPHIA – Playing at Sweeney Field on the campus of Saint Joseph's, the Haverford College men's lacrosse team fell to Stevens by an 11-6 score in its final non-conference game of the regular season. The Ducks (5-2) had just three more shots in what was a basically even statistical contest against the Fords (4-3), but saw goalie Carson White make seven saves to deny Haverford's comeback attempt.

Patrick Girard scored each of Haverford's first three goals to record the second hat trick of his career. Trailing by as many as six, the Fords cut the Stevens lead to 9-6 with 12 minutes to play behind goals from Ryan Tetro, Isaac Krier, and Ben Frost, but were held off the scoreboard in the remaining time.

The Ducks outscored Haverford by 3-1 margins in both quarters of the opening half and added the first two goals of the third quarter to hold an 8-2 lead with 6:38 to play in the third. Girard scored at the 12:43 mark of the first quarter and the 8:56 mark of the second quarter for Haverford's attack in the opening half. He also broke a 4-0 run after Kevin Goshorn's second assist of the season set up the third goal from the Haverford captain. Girard's offensive output doubled his goal total on the year to six.

Stevens matched its largest lead, with a 9-3 score, following a goal with just 57 seconds to play in the third period. However, Tetro gave the Fords some momentum heading into the fourth quarter as he recorded his second goal of the year with eight seconds remaining before the final quarter.

Haverford was strong in the faceoff department all afternoon, winning 12 of the 20 draws. Zack Cohen was 10-of-18 while Charlie Russ won both of his attempts. Haverford's two goals in the fourth quarter each came off of subsequent possessions from face off victories with Cohen. Krier's seventh goal of the year came at the 13:21 mark of the fourth. Just 1:02 later, Ben Frost added his team-leading 10th goal of the year to make the score 9-6.

The two sides both took five shots during the final 12 minutes of game action; however, it was the Ducks who put the only offense on the scoreboard with two goals in the final four minutes. Stevens' goalie did make a pair of saves in the fourth quarter and also watched a shot glance off the crossbar to preserve the win.

Both sides finished with identical marks in turnovers (15) and caused turnovers (13). The Ducks finished the contest with a 34-28 advantage in ground balls. Max Ellis led the Fords in both ground balls and caused turnovers with five each. Sixteen different players picked up a ground ball for Haverford, including six players who finished with two or more, while seven different players forced a giveaway on the defensive end. Dylan Slack made four saves in goal.

Men's lacrosse will now turn its attention to the Centennial Conference schedule. The Fords open the conference slate next Saturday on Swan Field against McDaniel with a 3 p.m. faceoff. That game will be preceded by the women taking on the Green Terror at noon.
