BALTIMORE, Md. – Playing a neutral site game against Randolph-Macon at The Gilman School on Saturday, the Haverford College men's lacrosse team saw its two-game winning streak snapped with a 5-3 defeat. The Fords (2-2) went up 2-0 early, but ultimately could not answer a 4-0 run from the Yellow Jackets (2-3).

In the low scoring affair, it took over 11 minutes before either side could get onto the scoreboard. Jack Sollee broke the scoreless drought at the 3:35 mark of the first quarter as he scored his third goal in as many games. Stephen DeLeo was credited with his team-leading third assist on the game's opening goal. Just under two minutes later, Ben Frost found the back of the net to tie him for the team lead with five goals through four games. Patrick Girard set up the goal with his second assist of the season.

Randolph-Macon got on the board with 24 seconds remaining in the first quarter to bring the game within a goal. The Yellow Jackets also scored at the 5:10, 3:43, and 0:38 marks of the second quarter to take a 4-2 lead into halftime.

Ryan Tetro brought the game back within a single goal as he beat the goalie for the second time this season. His goal with 4:47 remaining in the third made the score 4-3, but the Yellow Jackets answered just over two minutes later to set the score at 5-3. Both teams were held scoreless for the remainder of play.

Haverford finished with a 13-11 advantage in shots on goal, but 10 saves from the Randolph-Macon goalie kept the Fords from running their winning streak to three straight games. Dylan Slack made six saves in goal for the Fords. Haverford held an overall edge of 27-25 in shots.

Men's lacrosse will return home this Wednesday for a 4:30 start against Gwynedd Mercy on Swan Field. Haverford will also host Roger Williams next Sunday, March 11 at 1 p.m. before a three game road trip begins the following week.
