Max Ellis Selected to Play in Friday's USILA North-South All-Star Game

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Max Ellis '18 has been selected to play in the 77th Annual Division III USILA/Nike North-South game this weekend. The North-South game will be played at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium on the campus of Providence College this Friday, May 25. The game time is 5:30 p.m. for the Division III game with the Division I-II game following at 7:30 p.m.

This all-star match-up has become one of the most storied traditions in college lacrosse in which the highest caliber seniors from the across the country are showcased on the same field. The North-South game kicks off a Memorial Day weekend filled with lacrosse in New England as the 2018 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Semifinals and Championships will be held 25 miles north of Providence at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

A long-stick middie for one of the top defenses in the country, Ellis earned the first all-conference recognition of his career with second-team All-CC honors this spring. The senior was one of five players who started all 15 games for the Fords. Ellis led Haverford in ground balls (58) and caused turnovers (35), while also taking over the as the primary face-off man late in the season.

He caused a turnover during 10 different contests, including a season-best five takeaways during victories against Eastern and Roger Williams. Additionally, he forced five turnovers at Dickinson. Ellis collected multiple ground balls on 14 occasions, with four or more ground balls in 10 games. Ellis ranked third in the conference in caused turnovers while has ground ball total was also among the top 10 players in conference contests. He capped his career with the second most caused turnovers in school history.

Ellis is one of six players who will represent the Centennial Conference this weekend as a member of the South team. He is the 14th player in Haverford's program history to be selected to play in the North-South Game. This marks the second straight year Haverford has had a player selected as P.J. Jackson '17 played in this contest a season ago.
