Season Recap: Men's Lacrosse Returns to CC Tournament

Season Recap: Men's Lacrosse Returns to CC Tournament

Signature win: Men's lacrosse finally broke through in 2018 and got past Swarthmore during the final game of the regular season to clinch the team's first postseason appearance in seven years. Playing a de-facto playoff game against the Garnet for the third straight season, the Fords took their first lead since the opening quarter with 10:44 to play in regulation off a goal from Stephen DeLeo. However, it was ultimately Ben Frost's tally with just 1:37 left on the game clock that proved to be the game-winner for the visiting Fords.

To put themselves in a position where that game could get them into the playoffs, the Fords defeated Muhlenberg, Washington College, and Ursinus all by two goals during the regular season. The win against Muhlenberg was the first time the Mules, a team receiving votes at the time, had been defeated all season. Haverford's victory over Washington College was its first since the 2011 season, while the win against Ursinus guaranteed that the 13-member senior class went out winners in their final time playing on Swan Field.

Looking ahead: Rising seniors and All-Centennial Conference performers Dylan Slack and Ben Frost headline a team that appears well-positioned for another postseason appearance next spring. The Fords four of their top six point producers as rising senior Stephen DeLeo tied Frost for the team lead with 21 goals. Anchored by Slack, the defense will rely on its depth that was built up this season with the graduation of all-conference performers Max Ellis and Chandler Todd. However, five returners started a game this spring as a member of the top defensive unit. Haverford will also be bolstered by the return of senior Zack Cohen to the face-off X.
