Haverford upsets #20 Dickinson for 5th straight victory

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Haverford College men's soccer team gave notice that it will be a contender for the Centennial Conference crown once again this season with a resounding 3-0 upset of 20th-ranked Dickinson College at Biddle Field Saturday afternoon.

In a rematch of the 2011 Centennial final, the Fords (8-4, 4-1 CC) scored three goals late in the second half to send the defending champion Red Devils (8-3-1, 3-1-1) to their first conference loss of the season.

The opening half saw neither team able to get on the scoreboard despite much action as the two teams combined for 15 shots. Haverford goalie Andriy Mshanetskyy tallied three saves to keep the contest scoreless going into intermission.

Ford Bohrmann opened the scoring in the 78th minute when he converted a feed from Nikko Giannasca for his first goal of the season. Extending the Fords advantage to 2-0, Sam Yarosh tallied his team-leading seventh goal just two minutes later. Colin Seitz, scoring his third goal in the last four games, closed out the scoring as he nailed home a pass from his brother, Brady Seitz, with six minutes remaining in the game.

Haverford held Dickinson, the highest-scoring offense in the Centennial at an average of 2.70 goals per game, to just six shots in the second half.

"It was a great overall effort," said head coach Shane Rineer. "The guys are really beginning to gel with one another and we are starting to pick up some serious momentum."

Mshanetskyy (8-3) finished with six saves while recording his fourth shutout of the season.

Cody Hickok (7-3-1) made five saves in the loss.

Facing a week-long hiatus from game action, the Fords host Gettysburg College next Saturday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m.
