Fast start helps Fords take down Shoremen

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Brady Seitz tallied both goals as the Haverford College men's soccer team took down host Washington College, 2-1, on Wednesday night in Centennial Conference action.

Seitz opened the scoring in the game's seventh minute when he knocked home a rebound off a header attempt by Ford Bohrmann for his first goal of the season.

The duo connected again less than six minutes later as Bohrmann sent a through pass to Seitz and the sophomore drilled the ball from 20 yards out into the lower right corner of the net. It was the second two-assist game by Bohrmann in his senior campaign.

Haverford (7-2, 2-1 CC) continued to dominate play over the remainder of the half as the Fords tallied 14 shots in the first 45 minutes of play.

Washington (5-4-1, 0-2-1) did not register its first shot of the contest until the 65th minute of the game. After hitting the cross bar with 18 minutes remaining on the clock, senior Sam Wild brought the hosts within one a couple minutes later when he scored his third of the season off a loose ball in front of Haverford goalie Nick Kahn (7-2).

The Shoremen would get no closer, however, as the Fords limited Washington to just one more shot over the rest of the game.

Haverford finished with a 22-5 advantage in shots and earned two more corner opportunities (9-7).

Shoremen goalie David Myers (5-4-1) made four saves in the loss while his teammates helped the cause with two additional stops.

The treacherous Centennial schedule continues for the Fords as they host Dickinson College on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Red Devils currently sit fourth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America ranking of the Mid-Atlantic Region while Haverford resides in sixth.
