HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's soccer team dedicated many hours this past Saturday morning to helping the Wissahickon Restoration Volunteers (WRV) clear the forest of invasive plants.

The squad focused on cutting down and removing large vines that had been growing around and invading healthy trees. The players spent the morning cutting and pulling down many of the destructive vines in a large section of the Wissahickon forest.

"The soccer team jumped at the opportunity to work with WRV because we appreciated what they are doing for our environment and some of the players had grown up in the area," commented junior Charlie Crawford. "With our help, years of rampant growth have been curtailed and the WRV is able to begin the second phase of their plan, which is to plant native plants to restore balance to the forest."
