Men's Soccer Edged by McDaniel, 1-0

WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Haverford College men's soccer team suffered a 1-0 setback at the hands of McDaniel Saturday afternoon on the road. The loss was the first in the Centennial Conference for the Fords (4-3, 1-1 CC).

McDaniel (6-3, 1-1 CC) scored the game's lone goal in the 35th minute of play when Sean Foley got open and finished his unassisted tally with over 10 minutes to play in the opening half. The first half goal stood up at the game's final whistle as the Green Terror's Nick Over stopped four shots in goal to record the shutout victory.

Haverford held a slight edge in shots for the contest, 7-6, as the two teams combined for just 13 shots. The Fords put three shots on target and hit the post on the game's first shot. McDaniel also finished with four shots on goal during the contest.

The Fords had a chance to score early on when Brady Seitz hit the post with the game's first shot in the eighth minute of play. Haverford did not allow a shot on goal until the 35th minute; however, the Green Terror made the most of that initial run at goal to put McDaniel on the scoreboard.

Over the final 45 minutes, Haverford opened the second half with the first two shots. The Fords also sent a shot high in the 72nd minute of the match. Haverford threatened up until the final seconds as it earned a corner attempt as Tejan Walcott's shot was saved out of bounds with 30 seconds left in the contest. The ball was put back into play with 11 seconds left, but Haverford was unable to come away with a clean shot on its final offensive chance of the day.

Will Corkery and Walcott each finished the game with two shots for the Fords. In net, Chris Gibson made three saves during his 90 minutes.

Men's soccer will be back at home against Washington College on Wednesday. That contest will get underway at 4 p.m.
