Haverford College CoSIDA Academic All-Americans
HAVERFORD, Pa. – Sam Yarosh has been named a first-team representative to the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-America Division III Men's Soccer team. Yarosh is the 18th student-athlete at Haverford to be recognized as a CoSIDA Academic All-American, an award which recognizes academic and athletic excellence. He is just the third student-athlete in school history to earn first-team distinction.
Both individually and as a team, the 2015 season was a memorable year for Yarosh and the Fords. As a team, Haverford won a program-record 16 straight matches and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals for the first time in program history. The team's 18 total victories also established a new benchmark for the program. That string of success saw the Fords host the NCAA Tournament Regional and Section Rounds for the first time in program history.
Individually, Yarosh became the first player in Centennial Conference history to earn both conference player of the year and scholar-athlete of the year honors. He led the conference with 17 goals and 39 points on the season. He tied with teammate Will Corkery for the conference lead with a program-record seven game-winning goals. His seventh game-winning goal came in the third round of the NCAA Tournament to ignite a 2-0 victory over St. Lawrence on Walton Field. His 17 goals as a senior are tied for the fifth highest single-season total in program history, while the 39 career points are the eighth most in a single season at Haverford.
Yarosh's career ranks among the best in the program's storied history. The two-time team captain started all 77 games that he appeared in to break the program record in that category. His 77 career appearances rank third all time. His 11 career game-winning goals rank just one behind the school's co-leaders. His 33 career goals and 77 career points ranked 11th and 12th in school history, respectively.
