Why did you choose Haverford?
I chose Haverford for many of the same reasons that my fellow classmates chose it (great academics, beautiful campus, and the intimate community being some of the top ones). However, the main reason that I chose Haverford over other schools was the genuine kindness of the people who inhabit the campus. The atmosphere is something that you can feel as soon as you step on campus and after my visit I knew I would enjoy my four years here.
What is your favorite team experience?
My favorite team experience would have to be the dog-pile at the corner flag of our very own Walton Field after securing the Centennial Conference Championship with just 19 seconds left in regulation my freshman year.
Why did you choose to play a sport in college?
I chose to play soccer in college because I felt like I couldn't embrace my accomplishments up until that point fully if I hadn't pushed onto the next level, continuing my goal of being the best player I could be. It would be giving up short of the finish line. I also was hoping to have many teammates that I would become as close as possible with, and with them have the opportunity to create memories for a lifetime. Now that I've gotten to this point, I can honestly say that alongside my old goal of being the best player I can be is a new goal of being the best teammate I can be.
What advice would you give a high school student considering Haverford?
I would say that it is impossible to truly understand everything that Haverford has to offer without visiting campus and spending time with the people you may possibly be sharing your college experience with. My overnight visit is what locked me into Haverford, and I had never even heard of the school before until Coach Rineer asked me to come for a visit.
What are your thoughts on the Honor Code?
The Honor Code outlines the pillars of our community. As serious as it may sound on paper, the Honor Code is there to guide us in many different ways. Yet, I would say most people who end up at Haverford never have any trouble with the Honor Code because the school attracts students who embody its tenants.
