ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Haverford College men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw with Muhlenberg on the road Wednesday evening. The Fords (6-1-2, 1-1-1 CC) held a slight 15-14 edge in shots and a commanding 7-3 edge in corners against the Mules (2-4-2, 0-2-1 CC), but were unable to break through for a game-winning tally.

Jeremy Astesano made five saves for Haverford as he recorded his fifth shutout in seven starts this season. His Muhlenberg counterpart, Jordan Schreer, made three saves over the course of 110 minutes of playing time.

Through the 90 minute regulation, Haverford held an 11-8 advantage in shots. However, in the first overtime, the Fords really turned up the offensive intensity as they earned five corner kick chances and took three shots. The last of those three shots was stopped with one second remaining as Michael Carr was denied by Schreer on last ditch effort.

The Mules held the advantage in the second overtime with six shots, but none of those attempts were on goal. Muhlenberg's closest chance came when Victor Jacobs hit the crossbar during the 106th minute of play. Ben Field had the final shot of the night for either side as he fought through traffic to get inside the six but sent a shot wide on the hard angle attempt.

Nick Jannelli, the reigning Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week, finished the match with a game-high five shot attempts. Field had three shot attempts on the night while Carr put both of his shot attempts on goal.

Men's soccer will return to the pitch this Saturday when the Fords travel to Gettysburg for a 7 p.m. match under the lights.
