GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Haverford College men's soccer team fell to Gettysburg College on Saturday night by a 4-1 score. The Bullets (7-2, 3-1 CC) got four goals from Patrick Santini to overcome the No. 23 Fords (6-2-2, 1-2-1 CC).

Before Santini single-handedly overwhelmed the Fords, it was Nicholas Montgomery who opened up Saturday's scoring with a free kick past the outstretched arms of the Gettysburg keeper. His second goal of the season came just 2:42 into the contest. He now has a total of six points this year to rank second on the team.

Gettysburg tied the game on a highly contested penalty kick that was awarded during the ninth minute of play. Just 3:34 later, Santini was back on the attack as he slipped a goal inside the left post for what turned out to be the eventual game-winning goal. The Bullets' leading goal scorer capped his first half hat trick with a header during the 34th minute of play. His fourth goal of the game and 13th of the season came just over nine minutes into the second half in what turned out to be the final goal of the match.

The Bullets finished with just an 11-9 advantage in shots, but were much more efficient in their attempts with seven of those attempts on goal. Both teams made three saves on the evening. Jeremy Astesano made three saves for the Fords before Michael Iacono came on to play the final 50-plus minutes of game action. Nick Jannelli and Sykes Cargile each had two shots to lead the Fords.

Men's soccer will look to bounce back this coming week with both non-conference and Centennial Conference action. The Fords will travel to Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday, October 4 for another 7 p.m. showdown under the lights. Haverford returns to conference play next Saturday when it ends what will be a three-game road stretch by the time McDaniel comes to Walton Field. That match will get underway at 2 p.m.
