Haverford, Pa. – The Haverford College men's soccer team had two players named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team. The teams are voted on by the sports information offices of the 30 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better.

Senior co-captain Dorian Wirz was named to the all-academic team for the second straight season. Wirz was named honorable mention All-Centennial Conference this season, garnering All-CC accolades for the third time in his career. The 2013 Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year earned first-team All-CC honors in 2016 to go along with another honorable mention nod in 2013. Wirz earned honorable mention accolades in the midfield this year despite starting less than half of Haverford's conference matches. Wirz assisted on the game-winning goal in his season debut against Franklin & Marshall as the Fords were 4-2-1 in Centennial Conference play with Wirz on the field.

Senior co-captain Ben Field earned his way on to the all-academic team for the first time in his career. Field repeated his second-team All-Centennial Conference recognition from his junior season in 2017. He scored three goals and finished the season with seven points, doing all his damage in Centennial Conference contests. He scored during the regular season against playoff teams Franklin & Marshall and Dickinson, along with tallying the game-winning goal vs. Washington College. The senior tallied at least one shot in 15 of the Fords' 18 matches this fall.

Haverford's two selections mark the most on the team for the second straight season. After having three student-athletes honored in 2016, only Division I Temple and Division II West Chester matched the Fords total this fall throughout the entire Philadelphia area. The Fords' senior captains are joined on the all-academic team by Eastern's Jadon Ramsing, Temple's Hermann Doener and Joonas Jokinen, West Chester's Kyle Hoops and Giovanni Mowery, Rowan's Ryan Logar, Arcadia's Bradley McKim, Immaculata's Alex Noel, and La Salle's Matt Robinson.
