BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Haverford College men's soccer team suffered its first setback of the 2018 season with a 2-1 defeat against William Paterson in the de-facto championship match of the Jimmy Mills Classic. The Pioneers (3-0-1) scored once in each half, while Peter Baroff tallied the lone goal for the Fords (2-1).

Dromo Quaye scored the first half goal for the Pioneers to put his side up 1-0 during the 27th minute of play. Keysean Brant-Sharp made it 2-0 William Paterson in the 53rd minute. The Pioneers finished the match with an 11-5 advantage in shots as each goalie was called on the make three saves in the rainy conditions.

Baroff appeared to have a goal in the opening half but was whistled offside during the 17th minute of game action. However, he would get his first goal of the season later in the second half as he took a pass from Nick Jannelli to bring the Fords back within a goal. Baroff's goal was the sixth of his career while Jannelli has seven points through the Fords' first three matches after an assist on Sunday.

After William Paterson went up by a 2-0 score, the Fords outshot their opponents by a 5-2 margin – including the goal from Baroff. Nevertheless, Pioneer goalie Kyle Quigley made each of his three saves during that remaining time. The Fords also had one last chance in the final seconds of the match on a direct kick only to see a beautiful strike from Jannelli ricochet off the crossbar and out of harm's way.

Men's soccer will now head out on the road this coming Wednesday when the team travels to No. 15 Stevens for a 5 p.m. match in Hoboken. That contest will be the Fords' final tune-up before Centennial Conference play opens up with Johns Hopkins visiting Walton Field this coming Saturday.
