HAVERFORD, Pa. – Paul-Andre Coulibaly scored his third goal in four games to propel the Haverford College men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over visiting Scranton (6-4-1) in non-conference action on Walton Field Tuesday afternoon. Coulibaly's goal came during the 73rd minute of play off of a pass from Nick Jannelli. That lone tally ultimately stood up for the Fords (5-3-3) behind the team's fifth shutout of the season.

Coulibaly's goal was the first game-winner of the sophomore's career and came just over 12 minutes after he entered as a substitute during the second half. Jannelli set the play in motion as he carried the possession towards the end line before a cross got through the defense and found its way onto the foot of Coulibaly at the six for the game-winner.

Jannelli's assist gives him 105 points for his career as this afternoon marked his 19th career assist to go along with his 43 career goals. Those 19 career helpers have him tied for 11th in program history with John Doan '82 and Dave Felsen '92.

Michael Iacono got the start in goal for the Fords and he stopped all five shots that he faced throughout the 90 minutes for his seventh career shutout. In the process, the Fords' senior captain lowered his career goals against average to 0.98. With his career GAA under one, Iacono currently ranks fourth in program history.

The second half goal from Coulibaly was a fitting reward for the Fords and their renewed energy coming out of the halftime break. The visiting Royals held a slight 5-4 edge in shots heading into halftime, but Haverford racked up 11 shots compared to just four from the visitors during the second half and finished the contest with a 15-9 advantage in that category to go along with a 5-2 edge in corner kicks. Jannelli and Coulibaly each finished the match with a team-high four shots. Scranton goalie Jake Hodlofski finished the match with three saves for the Royals.

Men's soccer will resume Centennial Conference play this Friday with another 4 p.m. match on Walton Field against McDaniel.
