CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Haverford College men's soccer team fell behind Washington College 1-0 but rallied back with two unanswered goals to secure a 2-1 road Centennial Conference victory on Saturday. Meinhardt Rentrup scored the game-winning goal with just under nine minutes in regulation. That goal came after he set up the game-tying tally from Paul-Andre Coulibaly during the 68th minute of play.

Both sides finished the match with 10 shots. The Shoremen held a slight 5-4 edge in shots during the opening half, but two saves from reigning Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week Michael Iacono kept the teams level at the half. After a scoreless first 45 minutes, WAC went up by a goal just over two minutes into the second half. Nevertheless, the Fords did not wait long for their response.

Haverford evened the shot count with a 6-5 edge in that category over the final 45 minutes. That work in the attacking third finally paid dividends on the scoreboard as Coulibaly scored his fourth goal of the season on a quick touch into the back of the net. Coulibaly has now scored each of his four goals this season during Haverford's last seven matches.

The Shoremen put six of their 10 shots on goal during the contest, but three second half saves from Iacono kept the hosts from pulling in front for the second time. Haverford matched those six shots on goal and was rewarded with less than 10 minutes to play. After setting up the game-tying effort, Rentrup scored the first game-winning goal of his collegiate career with 8:50 remaining in regulation time.

Rentrup found himself on the receiving end of a pass from Noah Schwab that put him behind the defense where he was able to finish from the 18. Rentrup's goal gave him a career-high three points to go along with his assist from the first goal. Schwab was credited with his second assist of the season and third of his career on the game-winning effort.

The Shoremen battled until the final whistle, but Iacono's fifth and final save came following a header in the box with just 14 seconds remaining to deny any thoughts of a Washington College comeback.

Men's soccer is right in the thick of the Centennial Conference playoff race but can further solidify its spot in the conference tournament this coming week with two more Centennial Conference matches. The Fords will play the make-up of the rescheduled McDaniel contest this Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. on Walton Field before heading to Dickinson next Saturday for a 4:30 p.m. start on the road. Haverford closes the regular season the following week with a pair of home matches.
