Men's squash announces schedule

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's squash team released its schedule for the upcoming season on Tuesday morning.

The Fords will begin the season at New York University on Nov. 9 before home matches against Lehigh University and Vassar College on Nov. 16.

A match the following Saturday at Johns Hopkins University will close the first-semester schedule. The Fords and Blue Jays went 1-1 against each other last season.

After the alumni matches on Jan. 11, Haverford will spend most of the rest of January away from the Gooding Integrated Athletic Center (GIAC) Squash Courts. The Pioneer Valley Invitational will see the Fords take on Connecticut College, Colby College, University of Western Ontario and Northeastern University over the course of the two-day tournament that runs from Jan. 17-18. Haverford will then cap the weekend with a match against Tufts University at Yale on Jan. 19

The Fords' lone home contest in January takes place on Jan. 23 as it welcomes MIT for a match beginning at 5 p.m.

A trip to Vassar College on Jan. 25 provides the opportunity for Haverford to battle with the host Brewers and Northeastern University. The Fords then close out the month with a match at Drexel University on Jan. 30.

February opens with consecutive weekends of home competitions at the GIAC Squash Courts. Boston College and Bucknell University visit on Feb. 1 before matches against New York University and rival Swarthmore College take place the following Saturday.

Haverford earned the distinguished Barnaby Award last season as the squad was recognized nationally as the varsity team that displayed the most improvement throughout the season. Looking to once again make its mark, the Fords will close out the season by competing in the College Squash Association (CSA) national tournament. This year the CSA team championships will take place from Feb. 14-16 at Harvard University.
